Blue Ribbon Street Bar is absolutely one of my favorite places in the city. Located at Downing and Bedford in the heart of the West Village, it has grown to be my top hidden treasure in the city. Whether you are meeting an old friend, colleague, potential investor, going on a date, or stopping in for a relaxing glass of wine after a long day, you can never go wrong with Blue Ribbon Street Bar. Being popular among the industry types as well, it is a place that people in the service industry can easily retreat to for a relaxing end of their night because Blue Ribbon is always open till 2AM!
Being across the street from their main, first restaurant which started in the 90’s, they are important in the recent history of food culture in New York City. It's simply one of those places that always satisfies. Along with their diverse selection of wines, my two favourite items on the menu are the oyster shooter, which is the sultry combination of oyster topped with caviar and champagne, and the lemon mozzarella flatbread pizza. Absolutely delish!
Having met the staff on numerous occasions, and through a mutual friend, I have to say I absolutely love the service and quality of food. This being said I think Blue Ribbon is priced quite adequately. I never mind splurging on a relaxing ambiance and experience. Being located in the heart of the West Village, it's an easy commute to the wine bar by subway or even walking on a nice night. Not only being popular amongst the local neighbors and industry types, it is a reliable local hang and a a perfect way to begin or end any evening. I highly recommend Blue Ribbon Street Bar.
