This past Monday I celebrated the Summer Solstice with The Dreaming Tree - Great Food, Great Wine and Great Friends.
The Dreaming Tree wines is a collection of food-friendly wines created by world-renowned musician Dave Matthews and award winning winemaker Sean McKenzie. We gathered in Manhattans East Village to celebrate the Summer Solstice in good company, savory wine and hors d'oeuvre's.
Gathered to celebrate the first day of summer in one of New York City’s best-kept secret gardens, my friend and I walked through a hidden entrance to enter into the most beautiful garden majestically decorated for a chic summer get together. From airy lanterns, to blankets, a Jenga game set up, and my favorite - a s'mores station!
The Dave Matthews Band Head Chef, Fiona Bohane, introduced her savory Recipes from the Road – a mouthwatering collection of bite size dishes inspired by the cities visited on tour with Dave Matthews Band - so cool right? Recipes included grilled halloumi with strawberries, zucchini caprese with tomato vinaigrette, Mediterranean chickpea cakes (uhh we have the recipe!!), steak with braised white beans, and pulled chicken with blackberry BBQ sauce.
I even had the pleasure of meeting winemaker Sean McKenzie who personally shared the story and taste of The Dreaming Tree wine portfolio. The 2015 Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc was recently released and a fresh and juicy summer addition to the white wine collection. Filled with tropical fruit aromas and flavors of grapefruit and lime, this elegant and fragrant wine definitely piqued my interest.
