This is every foodie and beer lover's dream come true.
Leaving work one evening, my two good friends and neighbors invited me to join them for dinner at a neighborhood gem - The Cannibal. Ready for a beer after a long day at work, I agreed to meet them, excited for some good food and conversation. The Cannibal is located on East 29th Street between Park and Lexington Avenues on the north side of the street.
This venue itself is very narrow. Upon entry you notice walls of fridges filled with varieties of beer. UH yum. I was greeted as soon as I stepped into the room and sat at the bar and ordered a nice dark stout, waiting for my friends to arrive. As I skimmed over the menu I noticed the gastropub offers a meat-heavy Belgian men - which very much reminded me of the cuisine back home.
Once my friends arrived they ordered their drinks and we ordered a couple items on the menu to share.
STEAK TARTARE BEARNAISE, CRUMPET 16
SMOKED KIELBASA BACON & DILL POTATOES 14
SHAVED BRUSSELS SPROUTS, SLOW COOKED EGG, COUNTRY HAM XO 8
The food was a great snack and paired well with my selection of stouts throughout the night. If you are a beer drinker as I am the variety to choose from here is amazing. Not only can you sit and drink away through their vast selection, but you can grab a growler to go or buy the bottles individually.
Though on the pricier side, the food was amazing - and the beer selection mind blowing. Its truly a cozy spot and great for evening chats with good friends, date night, or even if you are riding solo. The service was on point - and very attentive. While we stayed sitting at the bar, the restaurant does offer seating in a enclosed area out back.
